MEETING MINUTES

Protestant Committee on Scouting

March 26, 2009

Meeting held at Covenant Chapel, 13300 Kenneth, Leawood, KS. Russ Munyan hosting. (Meeting had been moved from Dave Engle’s church because of Dave's surgery on 3/24. Dave is recovering well, has been moved from ICU.)

Attending- George Flanagan, Russ Munyan, Tom Carlisle, Steve, Warren, and Gail Lavenburg from North Star District and subbing for Dave Engle.

Meeting called to order 7:35-  Russ led in opening prayer.

Reviewed Income and expense report.  Money in the bank since last meeting: $600.00 from endowment fund, $1,400 from closure of God and Country account.  Most everything paid for the upcoming camp season.  Possibly will need camp school for NAISH chaplains. Have not been billed for Cindy's salary or for camp school for last year. Will need funds for Red and Purple books, ice cream socials, etc.

Bartle-   Cindy indicated Bartle in good shape- all seasons covered.  Last Sat Chap training well attended.  Next session 4/18 at Cherokee.  Have Community of Christ roster, no news from Catholic.  Will be using pony beads in place of leathers in future as students complete leathers program.  Discussed the value of carabineers-  decided they were a benefit.

Chap/chap aids training 1/2/10.

Russ-  Naish partially filled-  Warren first session, George some, Russ some. Introducing new programs at Naish to encourage Scout participation. Russ working on Apps for Webelos.

Tribal Feast will be 5/30/09.

Gail Lavenburg from North Star discussed some of the activities used in NS for Red Team and distribution of news among units.

Looking for info on Hindu practices for Hindu Scouts following a request from a unit leader.

Next meeting at Community Christian 4/30/09.
