Amended Minutes of PCOS meeting held on 3/23/06 at King of Kings Lutheran Church, David Engle hosting.  (Amended on 4/28/06.)

 

Meeting called to order 7:35.  Kyle Karsten, principal of Marten Luther Academy gave the opening prayer.

 

Attendees: George Flanagan, Cindy Cone, Russ Munyan, Bob Whitaker, Nick Kennedy, John Voss, Warren Vosler, Tom Carlisle and Tim Leber.

 

Reports-

Bartle Chaplains – Cindy Cone

-         All positions covered, 3 individuals covering 2 sessions.

-         Verlee Gilkerson and Ricky Dykes will be attending Camp School in St. Louis.

-         Other Faith Groups (Community of Christ, Jewish, Catholic) also looking good.

 

Naish Chaplains – Russ Munyan

-         Setting up rotation  of two chaplains to cover Boy scout camp, Webelos and Bear Camp.  Chap 1 to cover BS sessions and half of Webelos and Bear Camp sessions.  Chap 2 covers other half of   Webelos and Bear Camp sessions.  Nathan is returning and will serve as Chap 1.  Looking for Chap 2.

 

Finance-

-         Current Bank Balance 3003.90.

-         Reviewed Budget for 2006-  can make budget based on anticipated camp donations, other donor contributions.  Bibles and leather program materials covered for this year. 

 

Russ has prepared contribution letters to be distributed to last year’s contributors and hand delivered to new potential contributors.

Cindy suggested committee members should make a contribution to the fund.  Nick Kennedy volunteered to match committee member contributions.

 

Russ has prepared a new Website for PCOS -   http://www.HOAC-PCOS.org/.  If anyone has old meeting minutes on your computer, you might forward them to Russ who will post them on the website.

 

God & Country

-         PCOS graduated 108 youth and 40 mentors at a ceremony at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection on April 2, 2006 at 2:00pm.  This was a combined ceremony of the two program bases, one from NKC and the second from Cherokee Christian Church in Prairie Village.  Over 400 persons attended the ceremony.

-         Plan on opening a third campus in Olathe next year at 151st and Blackbob.

 

Agenda for next meetings:

Plan to articulate plans for next year (2007) and prepare 2007 budget at September meeting.

 

Next meeting will be held May 25th at Nick Kennedy’s house, 9815 Jefferson, KC Mo. At 7:30.

       (go west 3 blocks from Wornall on 99th Street to Jefferson, turn right to top of cul-d-sac.
