Minutes PCOS Meeting 1/26/06

Chaplain’s Report – Cindy Cone

            Chaplain/ Chaplain training held 1/6/06 at Scout Office.  Staffed by Cindy Cone, Ken Albers (Catholic), Bill Tabolsky & Dr. Kahn (Jewish), Steve Walton, George Flanagan, Warren Vosler.

            Good attendance-     Best session so far.  Good interaction of participants.  Many positive comments.  Next session scheduled for Jan 6, 2007.  Considering possibility of holding training session in Lawrence, KS, to accommodate the units in the west part of the Council.  Getting space reserved in Jewish Community center in Lawrence.

 

            Recent transfers in Council office- Charles Vanderholt to cover Relationships.  Steve Roberts to replace Chris Wolfe who has been transferred to Texas.

 

            God and Country Classes-  classes going well with 42 in attendance at Cherokee Christian church.  Graduation will be April 2 at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 92nd and Mission Road.  2:00   Graduating over 100 participants.  (includes students from North KC classes).  Preparing for a 3rd site in Olathe for next year.

            God & Church and God & Life classes to attend Jewish service at Beth Shalom on the 28th of Jan.

 

Cindy Cone has new Cell phone number- 816-694-5151.  No home phone any more.

 

Russ Munyan preparing letter of thanks and current update of program to be sent to last years donors.

 

Fund Raising – working on letter to be sent to last year’s donors plus neighbors and area ministers in Naish area and any other identifiable contributors.

 

Chaplain status at Naish- Russ Munyan

            Nathan will probably return, maybe move to Central Camp.  Krissy Kearney not returning as she is expecting a new baby.

            Working with Jonathan Bonness to get better representation in leader guides for Faith program at Naish.

            Webelos  Camp- introduction of Faith program.  Looking at possibility of splitting Webelos camp chaplain into two parts-  one person to cover Sun, Mon,  Tues sessions and a second person to cover Thurs, Fri, Sat sessions.  Breaks up load for the person who covered Staff week and 4 weeks of Boy Scout camps.

            Will think about including Red Team Tapes in camp programs.

            Addition of extra Chaplain could add about 400 dollars in cost.

            Russ to visit with Jonathon concerning Council covering 1/3 of cost of Chaplain fees and also covering portion of Camp School Fees.

 

Chaplain status at Bartle – Cindy

            Cindy will be in camp eleven weeks – Staff week through 6th session.

            Roster looks good- almost full compliment.

 

2006 Budget – Warren and Steve to update budget for year.

 

Revise letter for contribution requests.  Time line- Russ to draft by end of next week.
